Sarah Van Wallaghen brings over a decade of expertise in political strategy, legislative affairs, and organizational leadership. Known for her impactful tenure as Executive Director of the Republican Party of Kentucky (RPK), Sarah has been instrumental in advancing Kentucky’s political landscape and strengthening conservative representation statewide. Under her leadership, Republicans achieved historic milestones, including the takeover of the State House for the first time since 1921 and the expansion of a supermajority in the State Senate. Her efforts helped secure major statewide victories in multiple election cycles, increasing grassroots engagement, optimizing fundraising strategies, and broadening the party’s reach throughout Kentucky.
Sarah’s path in political leadership includes her work as a Field Director for the Republican National Committee in Ohio during the 2012 presidential election, where she led large-scale grassroots mobilization in a critical swing state. At RPK, her roles as Deputy Executive Director and Finance Director showcased her ability to drive organizational growth, implementing long-term fundraising strategies and managing outreach programs that supported Republican candidates and sustained the party’s momentum.
At The Rotunda Group, Sarah represents clients before Kentucky elected officials, where her deep understanding of the political landscape and her strong statewide relationships make her a valuable advocate for various industries and legislative initiatives.
Originally from Glasgow, Kentucky, Sarah began her career in broadcast journalism with Commonwealth Broadcasting at age 16, gaining hands-on media experience that would inform her future approach to effective communication. She holds degrees in Political Science and Broadcast Journalism from the University of Kentucky and now lives in Louisville with her husband, Nick, their son and their rescue Collie. Sarah remains committed to shaping policies that drive Kentucky’s growth and benefit its communities.
